I'll have to check some of those out. I can whole-heartedly recommend the Father Brown stories by G.K. Chesterton, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne, and the Patrick McManus books.

Hey, I love Chesterton! I also used to have a bunch of Kmart Children's Classics, and one was a Jules Verne book...I think it was "Journey to the Center of the Earth."

LOL, Pat McManus cracks me up. Ever see his column in Outdoor Life? My Dad has a couple of his books "Never Sniff a Gift Fish," "Real Ponies Don't Go Oink," and "Rubber Legs and White Tail-Hairs."

Most of his essays in the books first appeared in Outdoor Life, didn't they? Or is this a separate thing?

One of my favorites of his is The Liar's Club. =)
